Dinosaur Tracks in Arizona
In the middle of Arizona, a small Navajo place hosts a site of dinosaur tracks. KPBS wrote an article on this with interviews provided. Another blogger has some more backstory of it.
A couple of hours before sunset, a hand-painted sign caught my eye that mentioned dinosaur tracks. I wasn't sure if it was legitimate or not, but I wasn't about to give up the opportunity to find out!
A little family walked us (I wasn't the only tourist to stop by, there were was a small group) around and talked about the history of the land and the details of what we were viewing. Mama kept telling her daughter to get out of all the shots, so it was inevitable she ended up in one. How precious?
Our tour guide mama just sprinkled some local water over the steps to help emphasize the shapes. The site was the highlight of the day. It was such an unexpected stop on a long road trip. You can plan every detail out and sometimes, it's the little surprises that make the trip. I just love these moments.
