Carlsbad Caverns
This was the first of two caverns I visited while on my road trip. It was massive! I had the brilliant idea of walking down to it and then riding the elevator up. It turned out fine for me and I really appreciated the depth of where I was, thanks to that.
I'm glad I went there before going to Caverns of Sonora, because here, they have bats and all your clothes, shoes, camera gear, everything needs to be clear of anything from previous caverns for the safety of the bats. Otherwise, you're risking cross-contamination.
I may have had a little fun editing some of these images. The one below, for example, made me think of old-time horror films.
Tell me some of these don't look like fossilized dragons! No? Do I have my head too much in Petrified Forest? Ok.
I wish I'd brought with me a tripod for this trip. It's especially important for dealing with low light. But I still had fun!
